The Ancient Street of Qinghefang

In almost every town in the world you will find an old quarter that probably will be now nothing more than a tourist attraction, but here in Hangzhou the ancient street – Qinghefang – is alive, it serves its purpose as is has been over the centuries. This ancient street is flanked with Ming and Qing Dynasty houses and with stores that are more than one hundred years old and still working. Among the stores are tobacco stores, teashops, wine shops and traditional Chinese medicine stores performing their art as they always have done for the past hundreds years. Because of its uniqueness, the whole area is under municipal protection.
